CK McClatchy boasts an energetic and enthusiastic Traditional Competitive Cheerleading team to rally CKM sports fans and keep spirits high during football and basketball games. CKM cheerleaders are also involved in community events such as parades, fundraisers, and competitions all throughout the year. CKM is made up of two separate teams: Junior Varsity and Varsity.
Traditional Competitive Cheer at CKM is a CIF sanctioned sport, therefore it is treated like any other athletic sports team with participation requirements and high standards for conduct and grades.
Incoming eighth graders and current freshmen, sophomores, and juniors are highly encouraged to try out. Experience is not mandatory, although gymnastics or dance background may be helpful.
The team typically practices three to four days a week leading up to and during the football season in the fall and basketball season in the winter. Competition will be all throughout the year and additional practices will be required. The season for Traditional Competitive Cheer at CKM begins in June and ends in April of the following year.
