Meal Service Changes Starting September 3rd
Curbside meal services will resume when Sacramento City Unified School District (SCUSD) starts on September 3rd, with new federal requirements in place. Beginning September 3, 2020 SCUSD, Nutrition Services Department will offer curbside meal services at select school sites to SCUSD enrolled students, children enrolled in SCUSD Child Development Programs, or associated Charter School enrolled students only. Meals should be picked up at a student’s school of enrollment. For students who attend a school that is not offering curbside meal service, meals may be picked up from the nearest school offering meals. Prior to September 3, 2020, families will receive an Enrollment Verification Letter to Obtain School Meals for each enrolled student; printed on gold paper in the mail. The Enrollment Verification Letter to Obtain School Meals will be required to be presented to Nutrition Services staff to receive school meals for each student, each day. A copy of this letter will also be emailed to the email address on file.
- Curbside meal services will start on Thursday, September 3, 2020 from 11:00am – 12:30pm.
- Curbside meal services will continue to be offered every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 11:00am – 12:30pm during distance learning.
- The Enrollment Verification Letter to Obtain School Meals must be presented each day to obtain school meals.
- Meals will be provided for each enrolled student. Children not enrolled in school will not be eligible for meals.
- Meals should be picked up at a student’s school of enrollment or school within the same region. If a family has multiple students at SCUSD or associated Charter Schools, meals may be picked up from the school where the majority of the students attend.
- If your child is enrolled at a CEP school they will receive meals at no cost.
- If your child is not enrolled at a CEP school they must apply for and qualify for free or reduced-priced meals. Apply on-line today for free or reduced-priced meals.
- If your student does not qualify for free or reduced-priced meals, their school lunch accounts will be charged for lunch.
- Students do not need to be present for parents/guardians to pick up meals.
- Face cloth coverings must be worn in order to receive meals.

This program will be solely for the pick-up of meals and meals will not be consumed on site. Parents/guardians are encouraged to continue to be proactive in reducing the risk of COVID-19 by not congregating at the school site once meals have been distributed, continue to wash their hands often, sneeze or cough into a tissue and stay home if they are sick.
